What is it? Know your intruder, its behaviors and characteristics

Eliminating pest harborages, sealing cracks, screening all vents, keeping weather-stripping in good repair and maintaining good sanitation both inside and out are all essential in winning the 'war on bugs.' However, pests can nearly always find what they need for life and breeding within structures inhabited by humans. Although some pests are helpful to our environment, and others only cause general annoyances, many spread disease, and insects and rodents annually account for billions of dollars in damage.

When surveying your property for intruders look for tree branches or heavy plant growth and trim these back to prevent harborages or pathways to your structure. Trash cans should always be covered by lids which give a tight seal. Keep heavy ground covers thinned as they make favorite and convenient hiding places for rodents. If choosing to handle pest control issues on your own, be careful. Misuse of insecticides and baits are common among do-it-yourselfers and can be risky around children and pets. Make sure to read and follow label directions carefully. Never increase dosages thinking more is better. It is not! Knowing what you are doing, and applying the product properly, is the only way to attain the desired outcome.
